Señora

I love it when the staff in restaurants call me signora or señora. In my town restaurant staff tends to be Mexican immigrants, but the restaurants I love best are Italian.  So the staff could be calling me either

I love it because adults are Signora (Señora).
I’m an adult to the people in the restaurant.

I’m a klutz to myself.

Not so bad

Loulou ran through the snow.  He remembered his person.  Her scent was still present all over the island

The girls called him.

They need him.
They love him.
He brought them the pigeon.  The older kissed his bloody nose.  The younger threw his ball.
Human beings typically hated his presents but the girls, maybe they’d eat it properly.
He licked the younger.  He licked the older.  Both had salty tears.

He knew he’d sleep

Messalina

Messalina was fifteen and Claudius fifty when they married.

So a sexually abused child had sex with other men.
And was killed for it.
Life has some rotten traits.

Now this is because of Claudius the God and his wife Messalina.  As I read it I kept thinking “but she was a kid!” And “call her a whore? Even if she were, this is the behavior of an abused child.”

And yet, who says that about the Romans? You hear licentious. You hear depraved.  Who notes: this was a child.
